The value in taking time to pause. What an inspiring thought from a devotional this morning by Lysa TerKeurst
I have paused much too long in making my blog entries and received a gentle nudge from a fellow author.
We all run too hard and too fast most days.
We can take the thought of the PAUSE and ask ourselves two questions:
Am I pausing from something I need to be doing?
Or, as Lysa’s devotional highlights, will we pause for moments here and there throughout our day to take in the joy of a sunset; run an errand for a friend;
say a prayer; breath and calm our hearts; look into the eyes of those we love?
Today, think about the power of pausing. Be aware of what you are pausing from, thinking that it won’t matter if you miss doing it.
Be aware too, of pausing in the midst of busyness to take a moment to treasure that which is important.
The power of pausing. I’m going to let that phrase resound in my heart and mind as I go through my day today.
Join me, won’t you?
Warmly,
Gail

You are right on both points, Jean. A pause from something that needs doing does turn into procrastination. As you also said, the pause at the throne of grace before the Lord will release the paralyzed feeling and bring the needed strength for the task at hand. Thank you for your comment. That pause with the Lord IS the most important one.
Lord God,
Please give Jean the grace and strength to tackle her task and to be armed by Your help and strength as she does. Give her clarity of thought, efficiency of work and may she overcome one step at a time. Thank you that the pause at Your throne is the place of power. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Bless you Jean.
Warmly,
Gail

Hi Gail, thank you for your prayer. It’s not just that I’m frustrated about not keeping up with the house, it’s that I realized how satan can overwhelm us and if we aren’t aware of that, then we are allowing him to keep us in that rut. I just read your devotion for the 17th day, Growing My Faith - Gray Skies, and it talks about procrastination. I choose to rest in the easy yoke of Jesus today, one day at a time, and get all my stuff done, while praising Him, keeping my mind on Him. It’s a conscience choice tho isn’t it? Keep thinking about how nothing is getting done, or choose to put your mind on the things of God, and have victory !!! May God Bless your day and your time today too, Gail.

I think a “pause” can turn in “procrastination”, especially if your pause goes on a little too long. Now why would I say something like that? Because I have paused from some mundane work/business/chores around the house. So now I feel in a panic to get 2 years worth of paperwork done, and with that looming over my head, I feel distracted/sidetracked when I feel I need to be reading the Bible. It’s like I am paralyzed. I can’t start anything. So nothing is started or finished. I need to start over, re-invent my “pause” at the throne of my Lord, and with His strength and peace, go through my day, with Him at the centre of it, and joy within me, not panic!!!
